Elevator Modernization & Renovation

An elevator does not need to be replaced to feel new. Modernization upgrades the parts that age fastest, the controller, drive, doors, fixtures and safety circuits, while keeping your existing shaft and structure. The result is a safer, quieter and more energy-efficient lift, usually at a fraction of the cost and downtime of a full replacement. Stager has modernized and renovated elevators across Greece since 1976. Our engineers assess your installation against current EN 81-20 and EN 81-50 safety standards, identify what genuinely needs upgrading, and carry out the work with minimal disruption to residents and tenants. We modernize lifts of any make, not only those we originally installed. With 7 branches nationwide, more than 5,500 installations behind us and 24/7 technical support, we stand behind every project long after handover. Book a modernization assessment at 210-90-19- 957.

What you get with us

  • WHY IS IT NEEDED?

The elevator, like any mechanical or electrical equipment, after many years of use begins to wear out and needs to be replaced.

Renovation usually takes place when the elevator due to its age, has malfunctions that bother or may even endanger the transport of users.

Other reasons that make it necessary to renovate the elevator are to harmonize it with European standards or simply to upgrade its aesthetics.

  • WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

    • Replace the old parts of the lifts either because they have been damaged due to their use, or because they do not meet the new specifications set by law
    • The level of safety & comfort of the elevator users is upgraded
    • The aesthetics of the old booths are improved, which decreases significantly over time
    • Optimal operation of the elevator is achieved. Energy is saved
    • The old elevator is certified and its operating license is renewed

When should I modernize my elevator instead of replacing it?

Modernization makes sense when the shaft and load-bearing structure are sound but the mechanical and electronic components are dated, unreliable or no longer compliant. If your lift breaks down often, fails to meet current safety standards, or feels slow and noisy, modernization typically restores it to near-new performance for far less than a full replacement. Our engineers will tell you honestly which option serves you better after an on-site assessment.

How long does an elevator modernization take?

Most residential and commercial modernizations are completed within a few working days to two weeks, depending on the scope, the components replaced and parts availability. A partial upgrade, for example a new controller and doors, is far quicker than a full renovation. We confirm a precise timeline before work begins and plan the schedule to minimize the time your lift is out of service.

Will modernization improve energy efficiency and safety compliance?

Yes. Modern drives, LED lighting, standby modes and efficient controllers can significantly cut a lift’s energy use, while upgraded doors, safety circuits and levelling bring older installations in line with current EN 81 requirements. Beyond the savings, you gain a smoother, safer ride and a lift that is easier and cheaper to maintain.

Can you modernize an elevator from any manufacturer?

Yes. We work on lifts of any brand and age, including installations originally fitted by other companies. After assessing your equipment we source compatible, certified components and carry out the upgrade to current standards, regardless of the original manufacturer.
